unwalled: one MCP server for everything that has no API

Most software was never built for AI. unwalled lets your agent use it anyway: any website, app, file or database, through one universal MCP server.

AI agents can use anything that has an API or its own MCP server. Most things have neither: the sites you log in to, your own apps, your spreadsheets, your databases. The usual way around it is a browser agent, which opens the page, reads it and clicks, again for every question.

unwalled takes another route. You show it something once, and it turns it into tools your agent calls directly. It is a single MCP server, so it works with Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor, VS Code, Gemini CLI, Codex and any other MCP client.

For a website, it opens a real browser. You log in and click around as usual. Behind the screen, every page asks its server for data: an order, a search, a list of customers. unwalled records those requests and turns each one into a tool, already logged in. From then on, your agent asks the site directly and gets the answer in one call.

It works the same way with everything else: old sites without any API, whose pages come back as clean data; Excel, CSV, JSON and SQLite files; PostgreSQL and MySQL databases, read-only; API files such as OpenAPI or Postman; mobile and desktop apps, through a recording of their traffic; and live WebSocket or MQTT feeds.

We measured it against a browser agent: the same five questions, the same model (Claude Sonnet, in Claude Code), every answer checked. All 15 runs gave the right answer. On sites behind a login, unwalled needed 3 to 4 steps instead of 8 to 9, and each question cost 1.8 to 2.7 times less. On a simple public page, a browser does just as well.

Everything runs on your computer. Passwords and cookies are encrypted and only sent to the site they belong to, deletions wait for your confirmation, and databases are only ever read. CAPTCHAs and bot protections are reported, never bypassed.

To try it, run npx -y unwalled in a terminal: a guided setup adds it to your AI apps and starts a demo to play with. unwalled is free and open source, under the Apache 2.0 license.
